My father the Snowman

I was born in the winter
My father was a snowman
The heat came around and he melted

Melt
Melt
Melt

No longer snow, no longer man
He melted and disappeared
I, too young to understand

Melted

I grew older and became a woman
I kept things to remember him by
Like the two coals for his eyes
and a corncob pipe

I inherited his eyes
And see a cold world
Flames are my enemy
But beauty smolders from that coal.

The corncob pipe sits on my bed
I’ve never used it
Neither did he

I keep it because its decorative
and maybe it’ll be handy
Do snow people smoke weed?
Snow people is politically correct

At the end of the season they all disappear
I’m an all season kind of girl
I don’t want to vanish at the end of the year

I don’t want to melt

melt melt

Yeah, my Dad was made of snow
So some people think i’m cold
That my heart is made of black ice
and I’m frigid and have a fake mold

Whew
Below 32 degrees fahrenheit
That’s freezing temperature right?
I have to build up that cold exterior
I don’t wanna melt
Or have anyone disappear again
I really should stop dating snowmen
